so, i must've fallen off the map sometime in the past 30 days or so...
it could possibly be that i've been dividing my time somewhat evenly between frisbee and teaching and miscellaneous related activities.
going backwards:
yesterday, I watched the Liverpool versus AC Milan game that decided the UEFA Cup. it was, in my opinion, a fairly boring game punctuated by great bursts of excitement - before slacking back into containment.
on sunday (22.05.05), my ultimate team (4 Fingers) and i played some other teams in Kimle, Hungary. it was a last minute trip but we got to practice some strategies we learned on...
saturday, we went to Lab, Slovakia. Lab is a small village and my team had a training camp there. we drilled a defensive zone into the ground and learned an offensive endzone play. not that you care, though. heh heh...
on friday (20.05.05), i saw Star Wars Episode III. it was alright, for once. after being let down and let down even more (respectively) by the previous two installments, it was about time that i wasn't let down. thank goodness. plus, as part of a free promotion, my friends and i got to drink free beer (Stella Artois) afterwards... in the theatre complex! (welcome to Europe, folks!)
on wednesday (18.05.05), i watched the Czech National hockey team bring home the gold in the hockey world championships. that was great! the CR played Canada in the gold game and i was sitting next to a Canadian friend who had painted a giant red maple leaf on her cheek. of course, i was guilty by association, since i was sitting next to her and speaking english, i received a few glares during the course of the game - even though it was a blow-out for the czechs.
on monday (16.05.05), i saw Hotel Rwanda. it broke my heart. i came out in a daze. it's a terribly effective movie and accomplishes what it sets out to do. it certainly gave me a fairly grave case of Western guilt. if i could afford to be furious all the time about our inactivity towards Darfur, i would be. but nobody can be angry all the time. and being angry that we're not doing anything while simultaneously perpetuating the inactivity seems kind of pointless, anyway.
before that, i spent a weekend in Amsterdam. it was a nasty business since the weather went from foul to fouler to cold but sunny on an hourly basis. i slept in the trunk of a friend's car, since i didn't have a tent and there was no more room available elsewhere. plus, since it was a national holiday weekend in holland, the hostels and hotels were all booked solid. regardless, i had a good time... and i spent the next few days in prague recovering from the drastic weather changes (hail to rain to sun to windy hail, windy rain and windy sun) and the sickness that accompanied it.
other than that, i also turned in my notice of intention to leave to the school. my time as a teacher in prague is winding down and i couldn't be more satisfied. my motivation has been chronically depressed for about 2 months now, so it's about darn time i move on... (come July 1st)
summer plans also developed. after the week-long european ultimate championships in Rostock, Germany during the first week of July, i will join my father and brother to go hiking in Scotland for a few days. followed by continuing touring with them plus my mother too. after that, it's a little more up in the air.
when will i get back to the states next? that's a good question. but i'll probably be heading back for a semi-temporary (or semi-permanent?!) basis come late-October/early-November. i do, however, think it might be nice to do some charity work - environment-related - before i settle into getting my website off the ground.
and so it goes...
