Sick Sick Sicky

The bad news: My head is full of snot and I feel like crap. I've had a massive sinus headache since around 7 p.m. yesterday. I pulled some amoxycillin out of my drawer and I'm hoping that this thing is bacterial and that will help. I've also got this snort stuff that supposedly clears out my sinuses.

The good news: I have to wake up at 5:20 tomorrow morning.

Why is that good news? Well, it's less dubious than starting as a porn director, but my first paid acting gig will be as a banker for a Czech bank commercial! That's right, folks! I'm agonna be an actor!

Expect a small or large recount of the shoot either late tomorrow (my time) or on Monday.

Here and There

Well, one thing we Americans have in common with the Czechs: a stupid press supporting even more stupid government scare tactics:

There were "credible" threats of terrorism to take place in Prague for the past two days now.

There are elections coming up soon here in the Czech Republic and the current government party holding the majority would like to increase it since these elections are taking place to rectify a very shaky government coalition. Hmm... "How best can we do this?" they ask. "Hey! Let's frighten the populace and tell them we're the ones who have kept the city terror attack free so far! Yeah, that's it!"

Belch! That's what I have to say about that!

Weekend Update

It's very early Monday morning now.

I had a weirdly fast Saturday and an uncommonly slow Sunday. C'est la vie.

Saturday I woke up early to go to a frisbee tournament - I haven't been to an ultimate tourney since March, so I was excited... But I didn't play due to my still bum knees and instead had fun screaming at "my team" and getting sunburned - yes, sunburned in late September - and getting picked on by the child of a frisbee couple. I actually had quite a lot of fun with the kid because he was just vibrant with energy.

It only reinforced the one certain thing in my life - I will have children someday, somehow.

I returned to Prague in the evening and returned to my flat. I showered and ate a little food quite quickly so that I could go back into town for a concert - The Slackers. It was an early concert much to my chagrin, as I think I showed up maybe halfway through their set. But I hung out with some of them afterwards, as I had brought them a small gift of Czech origin - Becherovka and oplatky, for those of you in the know.

I have a little history with the Slackers, for those of you who don't know. I booked them into Carleton my junior year. That concert was a lot of fun and last night's was fun too, except the venue was not very nice - low ceilings and a disproportional crowd space.

Nevertheless, I eventually settled in near the exit and, despite having been standing for a majority of my day on bum knees, somehow managed to dance. A lot.

And my knees are feeling alright (not perfect today), which makes me think that I might try a frisbee practice sooner than I thought I might be able too.

Today, I spent most of my day cleaning my abundantly messy room and then went to my friends' flat where we exchanged music... knowledge. Music knowledge. Yeah, that's it.

And now I'm going to brush m'teeth and head to bed. Nighty night.

On the weekend

I went up to the Krkonose mountains this past weekend with Caroline.

We went on the "alpine slide" or "toboggan run" or "bobsled run" or whatever you want to call it. A video of that is right here:

We also did a ropes course, which was a lot of fun. 12 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to do it, but with age has come confidence and a certain lack of fear - fear of heights, in particular. I had not problem with almost every obstacle.

It was fun.

We also went hiking yesterday morning. My knees still aren't good enough to do everything, so the hike was shorter than the same one I took last year.

I'll try to get some photos up some time. Maybe some other video footage.

Porn?

So I went to a casting call last Friday for an internet only advertisement where I had to be a porn director.

I just got a call back for tomorrow, which would make this my very first call back. The guy at my agency who called me said that I was the director's first choice but that that could change should he like somebody better at the call back. So my fingers are crossed. I have to go in revved up and ready to have fun tomorrow and make an utter ass out of myself.

The downside of being cast in this would be that it pays only a mere 5000Kc, which isn't enough to even cover my rent. However, I have to get my feet wet somewhere somehow, and this would be a fine place to start.

Although, I hope this isn't the beginning of being typecast! Heh heh...

Business Plan - Day 017/CSS

I started a second test HTML page for my CSS playtime, but I liked the (incomplete) story I wrote for it so much that I can't reformat it without a complete change of content...

So I created a third test HTML page for my more extensive CSS practice.

I will probably stop updating my mini-blog after today because that page is pure HTML without the more advanced elements I'm learning. If I were to reformat it completely, it would take some time and it's frankly not worth the effort.
