Theatre and a Home.
I have both now.
I got a role in Strindberg's The Father, and I got the keys to my new apartment over lunch today.
The role is small, but paid. The apartment is small, but I don't plan on spending much time in it anyway.
Posted by silsby at July 23, 2004 03:05 PMCongrats! What venue?
Posted by Christopher Ashworth at July 24, 2004 09:24 AMI'm not sure of the exact location. It is one of the many "we don't have a permanent performance space, so we rent for each production" companies in the cities, Cromulent Shakespeare Company (http://www.soulsofwit.com/cromulent/)
Posted by silsby at July 24, 2004 10:30 AMExcellent! Define "small" role- to some people that's chorus, but to others that's anything other than the lead.
"Dark Destiny" looks like it could be cool (but that's coming from me, go figure...). ~A
The role is "small" (in that it has the least stage time of the speaking roles), but it is still a speaking role. And paid. So I'm not complaining.
We are also getting a new translation done for the show, partially, I think, because new translations are needed every few years, and partially -- perhaps from a production standpoint, predominantly -- because that way we don't need to pay royalties.
I'm not sure, Amy. _Dark Destiny_ could either be cool, or really horrible. That is kind of my thought on musicals in general. I either love them or despise them. Example: anything Sondheim writes vs. _Oklahoma_.
