Well, I decided to take a little deduction from each month's paycheck for a donation to one of the non-profits. I still had a little difficulty figuring out which organization to pick. I like the idea behind this fund drive, I just don't like having to choose where to put my money.

Posted by mom at October 14, 2004 09:21 PMI was actually thinking of people like you and Dad who are making a direct positive impact on people's lives, rather than just working with cold hard computers.
But I guess that, indirectly, I am doing some good with my job. I am working for an institution that helps to train teachers and does research for improving educational opportunities for children throughout the state and country, rather than working for some impersonal corporation.
I just needed to take a step back and not look at the small picture of my day-today job, but the further impact of the whole university and what those people whose computers I support are out there doing on the front lines to improve the quality of life for our fellow human beings.
