Or as we would say in English: L'sleep.
Or, what I should be partaking in right now. Instead, I am still packing. Why do I always wait until the last minute to pack?
Oh well.
I will not have time to post from Paris, but when I get back, I'll give a report on the conference and what little touring I have time to do.
I missed this when it played on NPR's Morning Edition yesterday, but check out the interview with Ozomatli - the best Hip Hop, Latin, Jazz, Funk, North African, Middle Eastern, Fusion group out there, in my opinion.
I think I shall never go to another wedding.
Why, when the one this weekend had it all? The requisite wedding planning drama (which quickly proved moot in light of the actual day). Community. Family. Friends. Religion.
A small town (and by "small" I mean about 20 houses) in rural (and by "rural" I mean twisty side roads off side roads with glorious mountain backdrop and unending horizon in the other directions) New Mexico where it seems that the entire area chipped in to help setup/celebrate the wedding. It was like something out of a movie about close-knit small town Catholic weddings.
Perhaps I'll write more later, but right now I have a lot of work to catch up on for being gone two four day weekends in a row.
Yes. From that except of Muppet lyrics, you can tell that I am going to yet another wedding (last one of the wedding season this year, I think).
I'll be travelling to New Mexico to sing in the wedding of a really good friend from college (but unfortunately will have no time to visit family in nearby Albuquerque).
But more importantly, I need to get over this phantom cough I developed a week ago. Only a cough, no other symptoms. As long as I can keep from falling into a fit of coughing during the few minutes of the song, I'll be fine. then I'll have to figure out how to time my coughs during the rest of the mass... maybe it would be better to just get healthy before the wedding.
