I received a very well timed Halloween Treat in my mailbox today.
My first published article in a journal!
I'll take that over candy any day.
Just a quick note to chronicle the smattering of good things that have happened over the past couple days.
I finally have a New York area code on my phone.
I got to see some old friends (ok, not "old", but the same age as me and from high school). Great conversations and reminiscences.
While I may not be able to make it back to Kansas for Thanksgiving due to the extremely high costs of tickets, I did find that one of my favorite airlines flies non-stop from La Guardia to Kansas City (and still serves meals!). So I know where my new frequent flier card will be coming from. And, as consequence of the previous point, I have a place to go on this seaboard for Thanksgiving if I can't make it back to Kansas.
I love my friends.
Oh, and I also was given confirmation that a paper I presented for a conference last summer is finally published. I had kind of given up hope on it ever being published, since the date kept being pushed back from issue to issue, but hopefully I will soon have my first publication (as second author, but hey, that's not bad for not having my degree, yet).
I had this long post on my thoughts about the production of Sweeney Todd I saw last night. But my theatrical ethics took over, and I've decided not to publish it on a public site until after the show officially opens.
Anyway. I loved it! Although I'm not sure if people who don't already know the show would understand it. And in a few weeks, I will open up that long long post that I just wrote.
