5 years

I want to take this moment to say to everyone reading this- without oversized flags, without political appropriation, without infuriating blame placing - I love you all.

I wasn't in this city 5 years ago. I've only heard the stories of that day from friends who were in the city at that time.

On Friday morning as part of their regular StoryCorps section in which everyday people interview one another, National Public Radio aired interviews with families of people who were in the World Trade Center buildings.

The interview with Monique Ferrer was the last thing I heard before leaving for work.

Last Friday evening, I was walking from Soho to a friend's apartment in the Financial District, which required walking from the northwest corner to the southeast corner of the World Trade Center site - the interview that aired that morning still in mind.

Stories and People. People and their Stories.
Not speeches, not addresses, not rallies.
Just Everyday People and their Personal Stories.

I just wanted to share these with everyone I care about and just say that I love each of you.

StoryCorps, September 11
